Moving out from our temporary space up on the second floor of Victoria Mill was quite a wrench. Lots of volunteers helped with this and we left it looking splendidly empty for its next tenant.
We are all volunteers at the Venue and we’ve had fantastic support from many local individuals and businesses. Scroll back through our Facebook page to find mention of heroes and heroines, donations small and big, and workers – also small and big – who have all contributed to creating the new Venue.
We’ve had help with joinery, electrical work, plumbing, security, rubbish clearance, painting, decorating, baking, sewing, mounting, fixing, fettling – you name it!
We’ve had the special help of members of the Black Dyke Band at a benefit concert that raised the money for our fire door, donations of fixtures and furniture and brilliant support from local contractors who have kept costs of materials and labour to an absolute minimum.
We’re all volunteers and we welcome anyone who would like to join in the fun. We’re dead serious about having fun – especially when we’re getting mucky or covered in paint! If you’re interested in textile arts and crafts, music or any aspect of Queensbury’s transport history, come along with your ideas and join us.
The Venue is still developing and we’re open to ideas about making it a happening place. Volunteers to help out at events are very welcome – we feed you!
